China to send a study team to operate flights from Chinese cities to Pokhara

Kathmandu, 13 November: A visiting Chinese delegation led by Wang Junzheng, secretary of the Chinese Communist Party of the Tibet Autonomous Region, has said that China will send a study team to operate direct flights from the Chinese cities to Pokhara.

During his meeting with the Chief Minister of the Gandaki Province, Surendraraj Pandey, on Sunday, the Chinese senior leader said that a study team will be sent on the possibility of operating direct flights to the Pokhara Regional International Airport, constructed under the soft loan and grant support from China.

Pandey had requested operating direct flights from the Chinese cities to Pokhara. Earlier, Prime Minister Pushpakamal Dahal had also requested Chinese leader Wang to operate direct flights to Pokhara from the Chinese cities.

Responding to the requests made by the PM and the Chief Minister, Wang agreed to send a study team for operating flights to Pokhara.

As India denied giving entry air routes via Bhairahawa and Dhangadhi, Nepal’s two newly constructed airports have remained virtually non-operational for international flights.
