Kathmandu, 12 November: A special report has been covered by the Gorkhapatra Daily, the government’s mouthpiece, describing the plight of the quake victims, who are struggling for survival under the open sky.
A six-member family of Laxmi Bika in Chhepari Village of Rukum West is spending the night under a shade.
“We could save lives from the quake, but how to protect ourselves from cold, we are worried,” said Bika.
“Winter water drops from the shed, cold waves hit the shade, how to save the infant child, we are helpless,” quake victims complain.
Two senior citizens have died from the cold in Rukum West, according to the local administration. (A total of four people have already died from cold after the quake in Jajarkot and Rukum West.)
Due to the lack of relief support on time, people in the earthquake-hit areas are suffering from colds and other different diseases.
Children, puerperal women, and senior citizens have been badly affected by cold.
Local bodies are distributing relief materials based on their political reach; therefore, people are asking for distributing relief materials impartially, reports the government mouthpiece.
