Kathmandu, 10 November: In the months of the current fiscal year, from July to September, Nepal received 3 trillion 65 billion, 340 million rupees worth of remittances. According to the three-month financial report released by the National Bank, this remittance amount is 30 percent more than the same period last year.
The remittance inflow increased by 16.8 percent during the same period of the previous year. In US dollars, it counts 2.76 billion in revenue the nation has received through remittances in July, August, and September. This is 25.9 percent more than last year’s review period.
During the review period, the number of Nepalis who took the final work permit (institutional and individual-new) for foreign employment remained at 113 thousand 397. The number of Nepalis who have taken labour permits again for foreign employment has remained at 49 thousand 297.
It is good to rescue the ruined economy, but the remittance revenue should be utilized in infrastructure projects for sustainable economic development, say economic experts.
