Kathmandu, 9 November: The chairman of the rural municipality, Tasinarbu Gurung, said that the local residents were happy after receiving information from the Chinese side that the border pass will be operational from 13 November.
“The diplomatic initiative of the government, people’s representatives, and security officials to operate the Korla border has been successful,” he said, “Residents of Lomanthang and Loghekar Damodarkund Rural Municipality will be able to travel certain areas of the Chinese side by producing their identity cards.”
During the visit of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal to China, China said that it is ready to put 14 trade points in Nepal, including Korla into operation.
After the spread of the Corona epidemic, the Korla border was completely closed. Before that, the cross-country trade fair used to be held twice a year in Korla.
Chief District Officer Janakraj Pant said that more than 1,000 local people of Lomanthang and Loghekar Damodarkund Rural Municipalities have been distributed ‘entry permits for crossing the Nepal-China border’ for going to the Chinese side.
The Armed Police Force (BOP) building has been constructed in Nechung. A two-lane unpaved road has been reached from Jomsom to Korla pass. China has built paved roads and buildings with facilities up to the border.
