Kathmandu, 5 November: A total of 157 people have died and 208 have been injured from the 6.4 magnitude earthquake on Friday midnight in Jajarkot and Rukum West, according to the Home Ministry.
The earthquake has affected seven districts in West Nepal, however, the highest human and physical casualties occurred in Jajarkot and Rukum West.
The Home Ministry informed that the government will be providing relief to the families of the deceased, free treatment for the injured, and temporary shelter for those who have lost their houses.
Hundreds of houses have been demolished by the earthquake in Jajarkot and Rukum West.
The government has decided to provide two hundred thousand rupees for each dead person, and if more than one person has died in the same family, an additional one hundred thousand rupees will be provided for each dead member of the family.
The three security organs – Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force have mobilized manpower and resources for search, rescue, and treatment for the wounded people. The three security organs have sent additional forces from Kathmandu to search, rescue and treatment of the people. The security organs have also sent medical specialists’ teams in the affected areas.
