The recent Tista River floods that left 14 dead with over 100 going missing, a warning for Nepal and India where several glaciers and lakes are at risk of outburst.
The flood was triggered by heavy rainfalls which caused a Himalayan glacial lake to burst its banks.
According to authorities, Lhonak Lake in Sikkim state burst its banks on Wednesday causing major flooding, which authorities said had affected the lives of 22,000 people. It is the latest deadly weather event and climate change is blamed for the disaster.
The state disaster management agency said 26 people were injured and 102 were missing, 22 of whom were army personnel. Eleven bridges had been washed away.
