There is now a great deal of satisfaction and joy among the people of Nepal that our Great Chairman and Great Helmsman Shri Shri Pushpa Kamal Dahal has finally returned home to share with us his foreign experiences.
He enjoyed unparalleled success at the United Nations where he was received by none other than the Secretary General Antonio Guterres and the assistant under-secretary.
Dahal had an extraordinary tete-a-tete with none other than US President Joe Biden where he exchanged views on significant issues of world politics, including the transformation of the current world order from unitary to multilateral.
His speech to the General Assembly was heard with rapt attention and many world statesmen considered it a major contribution to the theory and practice of international relations.
On the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, Chairman Dahal had major interactions with world leaders.
He also made a major effort to resuscitate the moribund South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC).
Additionally, he strengthened Nepal’s position in the Global South, especially the G 77 + China and the Group of Least Developed Countries, Land-Locked Countries and Small Pacific Island Nations.
It was, therefore worth it to lead such a jumbo delegation to the US and China.
He was received with great fanfare by the people of Nepali origin in America.
China Sojourn
If the first part of his long-winded foreign trip was very enjoyable, the second part seems to have been even more so.
Unfortunately, Dahal’s presence at the Asian Games did not inspire his countrywomen and –- men to win any medals at Hangzhou.
Perhaps, this is a reflection of the current ‘euphoric’ state of the nation.
There was a spark of hope that former King Gyanendra’s grand reception in Bhaktapur would augur a possible new beginning in the Himalayan Republic – but it turned out to be a ‘false dawn’.
The only hope of the Nepalese people seems to be that Our Great Chairman – newly religious and newly inspired by the majesty of Mount Kailash and the serenity of the placid waters of Lake Manosarowar will spend more time for the small and petty concerns of the Nepalese.
Unfortunately, his political friends from the Nepali Congress have other plans up their sleeve. Out from the blue, the former ‘Young Turk’ Gagan Thapa has proposed a new political scheme. To wit: elevate the consummate Madhav Kumar Nepal to the premiership to enable him to realize his most progressive socialist agenda [ or in reality to shield him from any repercussions of the ‘Lalita Niwas Land-Grab Scandal? ].
After some time, it would then be turn of the Nepali Congress to lead the nation for two-and-a-half years and achieve unbounded prosperity. Such brilliant thinking!

The Deputy PM and Home Minister, Narayan Kaji Shrestha has just announced the government’s pledge to uphold good governance in order that the talented youth of the country do not run away to greener pastures! Such wonderful news!
We shouldn’t be having a worry in the world. We have great leaders in every nook and corner. They are just waiting for divine inspiration!
