Kathmandu, 26 September: CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli has expressed his displeasure over the government’s delay in setting up an inquiry commission to investigate the gold scandal. Speaking at the opening ceremony of the UML Bagmati Province convention on Monday, Oli warned that if the government hesitates in investigating the gold scandal, the UML will investigate the case itself.
After being informed that 100 kg of gold was recovered from Tribhuvan International Airport, only 61 kg was shown.
“I heard and read that 100 kg of gold was recovered from the airport. After one month, 61 kg of gold was shown,” he said.
“Where did 49 kg of gold go?”, he questioned.
He also questioned where the 9.5 kg of gold that was said to have been smuggled through the electric cigarette went.
He demanded that all the gold cases be investigated one by one. Oli said that not only the porters but the main investors and businessmen should be made public.
