The Rastriya Prajatantra Party organised a huge protest rally in Kathmandu. Thousands of people who arrived in Kathmandu from across the country paraded. Surprisingly, the mainstream media downplayed the rally, without giving space to the event held in Kathmandu.
The impressive presence of people in the RPP rally, which was organised for the Hindu state and restoration of the monarchy and against thriving corruption and irregularities shocked the pro-republican forces. As the mainstream media had played key role in dethroning King Gyanendra in 2008, they did not give space to the rally. During the 2006 street movement, it was said that the media houses were receiving money to write against the monarchy, and the same foreign-paid media did not cover the RPP rally this time.
