Just a casting

EDITORIAL

For the time being, Nepal avoided bloody ethnic violence in Dharan due to the patience of those who were hurt by the activities of a community challenging the followers of the Hindu religion. However, the situation has not improved as enmity between Hindus and non-Hindus, say Christians, has been intensifying continuously. The Unified Socialist Party’s leader, Jhalanath Khanal, said that the Christian mercenaries had spent billions of rupees on the conversion of religion. Until some decades ago, the Christian population was very nominal, however, overnight, after the 2006 political change, the Christian population has increased dramatically. The constitution says that one cannot forcefully convert the religion of individuals, but the opening of churches and conversion of the religion to Christianity has been taking place openly.

In fact, the design for introducing provinces with ethnic identity is an open call for the ethnic conflict in the country which has hundreds of different ethnic communalities.

According to the country’s law, eating beef and even slaughtering cows are prohibited. However, a group of people uploaded a video on social networks openly challenging the Hindu community which worship cow and ox as their Gods. The cow is also recognized as the national animal by the constitution. On 26 August, those Hindu followers attempted to go to Dharan to accept the challenge, however, due to the prohibition order issued by the district administration, both the communities could not go to Dharan, which has escaped a possible conflict.

Extremists from both sides are misusing the social networks challenging each other. Political leaders are also blaming each other for inviting social violence. When the political leadership becomes irresponsible, the nation will have to suffer. When the leaders run behind the pity interests forgetting greater national interests, both the nation and the people will have to suffer.

Not odd, the leaders of the present day are more loyal to the foreign powers than the people and the country, therefore, they are dancing to the foreigners’ tune. Otherwise, why the leaders have remained silent from taking action against those who have violated the law of the nation?

If the present system continues to exist, communal violence will be obvious, sooner or later!
