BABBLES

By Babbler
Meeting, meeting, and meeting! Almost after one year, the Nepali Congress Party Central Working Committee meeting took place. The meeting was so lengthy that it took several days to conclude. The central level leaders were spending their time protecting their own factions, defending leaders in their camp and also speaking in favour or against Balkrishna Khand who is in judasary custody on the fake Bhutanese refugee scam. This Babbler didn’t find anything noteworthy in the meeting.
Other political parties are also spending precious time holding meetings. They talk about politics a lot but never talk about making the country and people strong, prosperous and happy.
If the politicians would have worked in a factory or farmhouse, at least they would have contributed to the growth rate of the nation but they have wasted time in the name of the meeting. This is a symptom that Nepal may not become prosperous under the present-day political leaders.
Smugglers’ haven country
Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) has become a smuggling hub. Once Charles Sobhraj had said that he could smuggle even an elephant from the TIA. When one quintal of gold was smuggled from TIA, his saying has come true. It is not the question of smuggling, this is also related to the security of the country. If those international smugglers can use TIA as a safe corridor for their smuggling business, it can be a safe corridor for international terrorist groups. Nepal is in a vulnerable state as we have very weak TIA security, meanwhile, we have an open border with our southern neighbor. Therefore, the security threat is very serious not only for Nepal but also for India.
There are different agencies under the government at the Tribhuvan International Airport. Particularly, those government officers and staffers selected by the prime minister, home minister, finance minister, tourism and civil aviation minister, are being deployed there. Without a commission in advance, the concerned ministers and other officials cannot get the opportunity in getting posting at TIA.
If the political leadership in the government is honest and committed, within a second, the smuggling taking place via TIA can be controlled. Unfortunately, TIA has become the milking cow for those corrupt people.
An end of the trend of contributing to the society
This Babbler recalls those days when all the members of the society had to contribute their labour donation for the development of the society.
King Mahendra laid the foundation stone for the construction of the East-Waste Highway, later known as the Mahendra Highway, based on labour donations from the locals. Let’s imagine, during that time, when the government had no funds, King Mahendra believed that the mission could be accomplished through a startup from labour donations from the society.
This Babbler also remembers that almost all the educational institutions were run by teachers who were contributing as volunteers. Besides, the society used to give cash donations regularly for the operation of such educational institutions. Moreover, for the construction of roads and irrigation, the society members had to contribute labour donations. Today, this trend has ended as the government decided to pay salaries even to the Ward chairs and allowances to the Ward members.
Nothing is free
The constitution is based on socialism and we have many socialist parties but in the Nepali model of socialism, no service from the government is free of cost. We pay taxes to the local governments on our property as fixed by them. We pay tax for the road, if we procure a vehicle, we pay VAT at the customs office and also at the sales counter. Now, the government has imposed VAT on vegetables and air tickets also. We are paying taxes against environmental protection. We are paying taxes for infrastructural development.
We are forced to pay such taxes but we are unaware about where the government is spending such taxes! Now, this is the time question to the government on its transparency.
QUOTES OF THE WEEK
Since the Nepali ambassadors in Delhi and Beijing are inactive, it seems, there is no need for ambassadors there. Work can be done through the Charge d’Affaires.

Who is to blame? The Nepali people should be blamed. Some people become prime minister 5 times, some three times!
People vote for the same corrupt thugs and elect them again and again.
Hari Krishna Shakya
Political leaders claim that they are following the path shown by BP and Pushpalal, in fact, they are liars.
Please stop cheating those deceased leaders.

In 1950 there was not a single Christian in Nepal. Today, according to government statistics, there are more than 5,12,000 Christians. Now the pace of growth will accelerate.
It will invite, in the words of the pastors, a cultural conflict at some point.
It is time to think about the possible threat.

If the powerful Rana had wished, they could have easily sidelined the institution of the monarchy by becoming the head of state by themselves. They didn’t take such a decision as they understood the significance of the institution of monarchy.

Earlier, it was 33 kg gold, again 88 kg gold and now one quintal. Isn’t this progress?

In a country, where one person cannot purchase 55 kg of rice, who could be the owner of the 55 kg gold, I wanted to see the face!

In a country with less than 30 million people, there are over 37 thousand political leaders. Now, let’s judge, should we reduce the number of the Nepal Army or the political leaders?

The 2015 constitution has made Nepal a failed nation. Now, we are heading towards anarchism. To save the nation, all should be united and replace the constitution with the 1990 one.

All are trying to add their name with Pushpalal for fulfilling their pity interests but they are not ready to link him with the greater interests of the nation and people!

What has my country achieved after the introduction of Loktantra? Those who were in slippers are seen in expensive suits and shoes. Those, who were staying in huts now own houses in Kathmandu.
We got many MPs and ministers from the people’s vote but what the people achieved?
Today, those, who fought for democracy and loktantra are frustrated. Isn’t it time to review these all?

At that time, when the Kantipur distribution was disrupted by the Maoists, the whole society supported the Kantipur side. Now, Kantipur has been left alone. No one came with them. Why did this happen? Because now there is no old public legacy with Kantipur. The Kantipur incident is an image, not even a media house!
