According to various sources, Alice P Albright, CEO of the Millennium Challenge Project Corporation of the United States, will visit Nepal in August, which will mark the official implementation of the MCC project in Nepal.
In fact, we all know that the MCC is part of the Indo-Pacific Strategy, and the Indo-Pacific Strategy is a strategy to contain China, so the MCC is aimed at China.
The Great Game of the Century between China and the US is becoming more and more intense. Nepal cannot dissuade them, but Nepal can stay out of it. First of all, China has not and will not use the territory of Nepal to do anything harmful to the interests of the US, because Nepal is too far away from the US. However, the US has been trying to use Nepal’s territory to harm and threaten China’s interests, by supporting Tibetan independence and forcing MCC in Nepal.
The US trumpeted the MCC as a gift to Nepal. But what’s a free lunch?
As the MCC is about to be formally implemented in Nepal, I once again appeal to our political leaders to sit down and do the math and objectively assess the consequences of the MCC for Nepal in a responsible manner for the people and history.
A few days ago, following Secretary of State Blinken, US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen visited Beijing for four days with a smile at the age of 77, under a high temperature of 40 degrees Celsius. In addition, the US defense minister keeps calling his Chinese counterpart and getting rejected. All these show that in the game between China and the US, the US does not have the momentum of killing a mace and sealing the throat with a sword.
Therefore, I suggest we wait and see, and not rush to implement the MCC right away. Or at least until it becomes clear that China will not withstand the pressure of the US, we should not implement the MCC, so that we can be more comfortable. Otherwise, those who support the MCC will be embarrassed.
