China’s response to the “Russo-Ukraine war” was appropriate. Ukraine is backed by the US and many countries in the European Union. Russia is largely on its own. However, the war has been going on for more than a year without a winner.
In this case, the worried ones should be the Americans and the European Union, because they are the money behind the war, which is costing them every day. China is in a more comfortable position. On April 26, Chinese President Xi had a telephone conversation with his Ukrainian counterpart, reinforcing his role in promoting peace talks.
In this game, China has the upper hand. The US Secretary of State and various ministers have publicly expressed their desire to visit and resume engagement with China, but China has ignored them.
From my personal observation, the room for manoeuvre in China-US relations is narrowing and the game will become increasingly fierce. Nepal should stay out of this as much as possible and not take sides.
Developing friendly and cooperative relations with China will not harm the interests of the US. Nepal is too far away from the US to think of any way for China to harm the US through Nepal. However, the US has been scheming to harm China through Nepal. The MCC, for example, is openly declared by the US ambassador to Nepal to be part of the US Indo-Pacific strategy, which everyone knows is aimed at containing China.
The MCC also has a fatal flaw against Nepal, namely that it is not governed, or audited by the Nepalese government and is not subject to Nepalese law, which is a blatant violation of our sovereignty.
MCC encroaches on Nepal and threatens China. I don’t know why we approved it.
