Indian security in Nepal in search of Khalistani leader Amrit Singh Pal

By Our Reporter

The Indian security men have again breached international law by entering Nepal searching for Amrit Singh Pal, a Khalitani leader.

The security men from India entered Nepal via the Jamunaha border of Banke.

The entry of the Indian security men has drawn flaks from Nepalis and a few lawmakers.

CPN-UML lawmaker Raghuji Pant said that the Indian security personnel’s entry to Nepal in search of Amritpal Singh had created distrust in Nepal’s security system.

Participating in the House session on Monday, lawmaker Pant said that it was objectionable that the Indian security personnel entered Nepal through the Jamunah border in Banke district stating that the security agencies of Nepal could not locate Singh, who was rumoured to be hiding in Nepal.

“No Nepali law allows the security personnel of any foreign country to enter Nepal and conduct searches like this,” he said. Pant also drew the attention of the government to control the border and prevent external interference, adding that Nepal-India open border was a breeding ground for crimes.

It is not the first time the Indian police breached international law by entering Nepali territory. They frequently do that despite opposition from the Nepali people.

And this problem is sure to continue until the borders are regulated with a provision for issuing and producing travel documents while crossing the border. But sadly. India does not want to do this, and Nepali leaders do not dare to raise the issue strongly.
