Speaker Devraj Ghimire the other day blamed the Nepali journalists who have already been sold away. In the recent past, Rabi Lamichhane, chair, Rastriya Swatantra Party, named those 12 brothers serving foreign powers. Earlier, Ratopati and Jana Aastha vernaculars published reports on the Open Society investment in the Nepali media. Senior journalist Professor P. Kharel, on many occasions, has spoken about how much money the Nepali media is receiving from the West and South. Surely, media investment is for developing a harmonious environment for foreign powers having vested interests. Americans and Indians believe in the propaganda war. For instance, the pro-American media blamed Iraq holds arms of mass destruction (AMD) in the process of developing grounds for a military attack on Iraq. Until today, the pro-American media has not been able to recover such arms in Iraq. The Western powers use media as an offensive force in the war. Even today, in the war between Russia and Ukraine, floods of propaganda against Russia are being created by projecting the Ukrainian President as a “superman” or a “great man”. In fact, the war could be avoided if Ukraine had not wished for joining NATO. Russia was compelled to military intimidation against Ukraine when Ukraine decided to join NATO. The question is, will the USA allow China or Russia to develop a military alliance with its neighbouring countries? The USA is the master of conflict and war as its economy is based on the war in developing or underdeveloped countries having a huge stock of natural resources.
Not odd, Nepali journalists in mainstream media have been sold away, moreover, the political leaders, bureaucrats, academicians and even those in the court are being used by foreign powers. For example, Kalyan Shrestha, former supreme court chief justice, is the chair of the Judges’ Society of Nepal, an NGO receiving funds from INGOs. Many sitting judges’ families were found settled down in the USA even before their retirement and along with retirement, they were found flying to the USA and settled down there permanently. The nation becomes helpless when its citizens are being sold away easily.
