On March 2, the G20 foreign ministers’ meeting concluded in New Delhi. The meeting failed to issue a joint communique because Russia and China objected to the anti-Russian tone that the US had set.
Russia’s invasion of Ukrainian territory is unjust. But is America justified in manipulating NATO’s eastward expansion and encouraging Ukraine’s provocations until Russia is pushed into a corner?
While the US has pushed Russia into a corner, it is also pushing China into a corner. Recently, the US House of Representatives passed eleven bills aimed at supporting Taiwan’s independence in one go, showing its firm strategic resolve to separate Taiwan from China.
If the US succeeds in its plan to separate Taiwan from China, it will, with its imperial nature, press ahead and separate Hong Kong, Xinjiang and Tibet from China. China is almost backed into a corner and has no choice but to fight back.
The likelihood is that the US will push harder and harder, and Russia and China will retaliate much harder, back into the corner, back to back. When life is on the line, one wants the simplest mechanism possible involved in protecting it and sometimes maybe exchanging eye contact and saying, we can only stay together for warmth and survival.
Let’s take stock of the power mix of Russia and China.
Russia: Nuclear power, the world’s second-largest military power, the world’s largest resource country and has the world’s largest territory which offers endless resources.
China: Nuclear power, the world’s third military power, the world’s strongest industrial country and the world’s largest population which can provide endless manufacturing capacity.
Is there any force on Earth that can defeat such a combination? It strikes me here that the US has backed itself into a corner by pushing Russia and China into a corner at the same time.
Will the great empire, which is gradually backing itself into a corner, remember its promise of a big gift to Nepal? Hopefully, it will remember to deliver the MCC to Kathmandu on time.
