No concrete proposal received for presidency: Nepal

By Our Reporter

Chairman of the CPN (United Socialist) Madhav Kumar Nepal has said that he has not received any concrete proposal regarding his candidacy for the post of President.

Talking to journalists in Bhaluwang of Dang on Tuesday, chairman Nepal said that his party had considered the presidential election as an opportunity to maintain a balance of power and sought the role of his party in it.

Of late, there have been reports that CPN-UML chair KP Sharma Oli has forwarded leader Nepal as a candidate for President. But Nepal has denied the ‘rumours’.

Nepal said, “Even though rumours are coming from many sides, I have not been offered the post, I have not received any concrete proposal.”

Chairman Nepal also said that his party was yet to decide on the Presidential post.

“I cannot guarantee the authenticity of the news reports that came in the media all the time. Also, not all news reports need to be true,” he said.

However, leader Nepal also said that his party could not continue sacrificing everything.

Nepal, who is also the former prime minister, said that extensive discussion among the parties and leaders was necessary for the post of President.

He said, “It does not mean that all things should be brought out of the curtain, some things should be allowed to stay inside the curtain; the party and I have not decided on this matter.”
