Kathmandu, 16 February: Parliamentarians have pressured Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ to appoint the home minister. The parliamentarians said that they felt that there was no home minister in the country when a violent demonstration of transport workers and businessmen in the area suffered looting and vandalism in the new bus park in Kathmandu. Viewing the violent demonstration, there is an urgency to assign a home minister, the MPs opined.
MP Gyanendra Shahi, who is also the chief whip of RPP, said, “An uncontrolled violence was witnessed in Gongbu on Wednesday and the home minister was absent”. Why is the home minister’s post vacant, he questioned. He then demanded the appointment of a home minister immediately.
Nepali Congress MP Prakasharan Mahat and others have also drawn the government’s attention to the incident of vandalism and looting in the new bus park area of Kathmandu. Rastriya Swatantra Party MP Shishir Khanal also opined that the government should be serious about the incident. The parliamentarians pressured Prime Minister Prachanda to appoint the home minister saying that the incident happened because the security arrangements were not good.
