The black day celebration

BABBLES

By Babbler

The government led by Maoist Center announced a national holiday on 1 Falgun (13 February) recalling the bloody “people’s war” launching day. Above 17 thousand innocent people were killed in the bloody insurgency that continued for one decade. The majority of the Nepalis and even the victim of the “people’s war” don’t want to remember the bloody conflict solely sponsored by the Indians aimed at destroying Nepal. There is no significance in enjoying a nationwide holiday recalling this unfortunate occasion, which destroyed Nepal and pushed the country’s development decades back.

Maoist Center supremo Pushpakamal Dahal Prachanda is saying that he will make his all efforts for the country’s development. It seems this is just for public consumption. He likes more holidays and we believe, such holidays will not transform Nepal into a developed country.

Voice against “people’s war”

Interesting to read strong condemnation in social networks against the national holiday announced recalling the “people’s war” launching day on 13 February. The Maoist Center in the government announced a national holiday in the process of recognizing the Maoist “people’s war”.

Maybe, the mainstream media have limitations but people are free to express their voices on social networking sites.

The Maoist leaders, if they have time, should try to visit such social networking sites to know the public opinion about them.

Republicanism Vs monarchy

Interestingly, at a time when the Maoist Center-led government announced a national holiday on the launching day of the “people’s war”, patriotic groups in the country organized a massive assembly at the Eastern border point Kakarvitta, Jhapa, on 13 February. Those patriotic groups opposed republicanism by announcing a movement for the restoration of the institution of monarchy to save the nation. The organisers have claimed that the campaign for the restoration of the institution of the monarchy will continue in other parts of the country including the capital city, Kathmandu.

QUOTES OF THE WEEK

The “offensive” government of the 21st century is escorting its president in a flamboyant little show based on the governing mentality of the 17th century.

Khildhoj Thapa

You can learn how to organize a party from communists, but expecting them to build a country is like expecting a baby to be born from a robot

Deva Prakash Tripathi

The “people’s war” holiday is excessive abuse of executive power and arbitrary work. Armed conflict can never be a national festival in a civilized society and legal state. Now there is nothing to say that the victims of the conflict will get justice. I would like to know where the other components of the ruling coalition are at this time!

If the law had worked, many leaders of Nepal would be in jail now.

Our main need today is to bring national unity to the country. The goal of our democratic movement is to protect the interests of the nation, to protect the nationhood.

B.P. Koirala

They used to say that they have made the people citizens, but I am seeing that even the people have been demoted and become slaves.

Roshan Shiwakoti

It has come to the point that the President should apologize to the doctor.

Shouldn’t the President apologize to the citizens who were stuck in the traffic jam for hours?

Harka Sampang Rai

They must be above the constitution and laws to protect republicanism, federalism and secularism in the country.

The system where everyone is subject to the law is regressive.

That demand is an anti-republican demand. Were Ranas above the law? Were kings above the law?

Keshav P. Bhattarai

The country needs a monarchy with Vedic Sanatan Dharma, and that’s why we need to raise our voices from every place: Long live the monarchy!

Officials of the Commission for Investigation on Abuse of Authority are rescuing big fish and catching small fish. That Commission should be abolished. Stop playing records on the anti-corruption move, which is meaningless but sound pollution.

Many senior leaders of the Nepali Congress feel that the party has suffered a continuous loss due to the anger with King Gyanendra. Some say some do not. Some only talk about the Hindu nation. But a Hindu nation also means restoration of the monarchy.

You should prepare and walk after knowing the level of the VVIP/VIP traffic protocol.

Commoners walking during the VVIP’s travel is a violation of ‘rules’.

President Bidya Devi Bhandari speaking on the VVIP traffic protocol in a TV interview.

Let’s stop the system of blocking the road when the President’s vehicle is on the road.

How much has the President dignified by the manner of “lathi-charge on the doctor who examines the disease”?

Ramhari Khatiwada, MP

The nation should be declared a Hindu nation even by conducting a referendum.

Dr Shashank Koirala, NC leader

BP and Madan Bhandari understood the uniqueness of the country. Political thinking and understanding were broad. Even for the sovereignty and integrity of the country, they did not attempt to destroy the institution of monarchy.

But their followers disposed away all the country’s assets and pretended themselves as the new king.
