Gaikhura Mahadev, a historical and religious pilgrimage site situated in Sukathokar, Melung Rural Municipality, Ward No.2, Dolakha District, has become an attraction for domestic tourists.
The attraction is increasing among the devotees with the belief that their wishes will be fulfilled, they will be saved from untimely death, and they will be free from diseases. Moreover, childless couples come on Mondays and worship by performing special Rudri and Chandi pooja and lighting 1.5 lakhs lamps.
Devotees on the way to the temple, go to Charikot, the district headquarters, and visit Dolakha Bhimeshwar. The next day, they proceed to Gaikhura Mahadev temple.
Ramakrishna Bhandari, Ward Chairman of Melung Rural Municipality, said that with the connection of the road network, the number of devotees visiting the temple has increased significantly.
Melung Rural Municipality has supported infrastructure development including the compound for the development of the self-created Gaikhura Mahadev Temple.
