While the US describes the MCC as a gift from the US to Nepal, the China-Nepal railway has been expressed by China as a way to build a Nepal-China community.
Given the current state of strong political conflicts between Democrats and Republicans leading the rivalry to the point of death, irreconcilable differences over ethnic conflicts, high inflation alongside the outbreak of financial crisis at any time, and the looming Russia-Ukraine war. The US, amidst all the chaos, loudly decided that it must send the MCC gift to Nepal, thousands of miles away which sounds “too good to be true”. Moreover, no one but Nepal’s political elite believes it to be true.
As for the Nepal-China railway, China did not make a high-profile claim that it was a gift to Nepal, but the product of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries, aiming to build a Nepal-China community of shared future. That sounds logical, to your common sense and mine.
The US has dominated the world for a long time now and every country has created an American fan base. Nepal has American fans, and China probably has more. These American fans believe in everything America says and whatever America wants to do these American fans cooperate. I often wonder how were they rewarded by the US, provided they are willing to sabotage the sovereignty of the country!
