According to local newspapers, South has intensified its activities on the eve of the 20 November elections. The activities of the ambassador from the South and also the intelligence officials have been intensified. They have learnt to have met Pushpakamal Dahal Prachanda, Sher Bahadur Deuba, Gagan Thapa and other influential leaders contesting elections.
In every election, the South’s activities are seen as inclined. It is said, the South will also provide the election funds to its trusted political parties/leaders.
We are told, presently, the South wants continuous political instability and the Left forces become weak. The design of the five-party alliance was developed in Delhi. For an effective electoral alliance, Pushpakamal Dahal Prachanda and PM Deuba’s special envoy Dr Arzu Rana visited Delhi and they held a meeting in the presence of a BJP leader.
An alliance between the democratic force NC and the Left forces Maoist Center and the Unified Socialist Party was possible in Delhi’s interests. Finally, Loktantrik Samajwadi Party (LSP) got entry into the alliance along with ousting of the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP). Also, Baburam Bhattarai’s ousting from JSP and return to the mother party, Maoist Center, have been made according to the plan of Delhi, it is said. Although K.P. Sharma Oli and Upendra Yadav had also tried to get blessings from Delhi, for the time being, they were left behind in the race.
Elections are taking place in Nepal but Delhi becomes active. Meanwhile, irritated Oli started his party’s election campaign from Darchula, a district which is suffering from border encroachment from the Indian side. Oli, addressing the local mass, didn’t miss to express commitment to returning Kalapani, Lipulek, Limpiyuadhura, India encroached territory in Darchula if formed his party’s government. The other day, NC president and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, addressing another election assembly, said that the encroached territory cannot be returned by lauding it in public but diplomatic efforts have to be made. We are unaware that for how many times Deuba raised the issue with India diplomatically! Meanwhile, claiming his role in publishing the “Chuche” map incorporating the encroached territory in the Darchula district, Prachanda said that he was the person who had put pressure on Oli to publish the new map.
We know, all the leaders, who are always competing for Delhi’s blessings, become patriotic during the election days. The Nepali Congress, going out of the way, also raised the issue of a border dispute with China, which is mentioned in the party manifesto. According to government reports, there is no border dispute between Nepal and China. So far, China is constructing fences on its border, however, they are inside the China territory by some feet. Even the Foreign Ministry has denied any border dispute with China, however, in the process of pleasing their Indian bosses, NC has been continuously raising the issue of border dispute with China.
Of late, it talked about the non-aligned foreign policy of Nepal, it seems, the present government is maintaining pro-Indian and pro-American foreign policy, which has obviously annoyed Nepal’s northern neighbour China. Especially after the MCC endorsement, Deuba has appeared as the Nepali avtar of Volodymyr Zelenskyy. If leaders forget geopolitical sensitivity, people may trouble as like in Ukraine. Ukraine and Russia are engaged in war, which has destroyed their civilization but the Americans are contributing to prolonging the war. If leaders become a dealer of foreign powers, the nation and people will suffer a lot.
