Both the US and Nepal are holding parliamentary elections almost around the same time. Although Nepal’s economic base is nothing like that of the US, we do have a superstructure very similar to American-style.
This clearly shows the deep ideological penetration of the US in Nepal, in fact, the US controls the ideology of Nepal. Consciously or unconsciously, Nepal thinks and acts according to the needs of the US.
MCC, which is neither governed by Nepal nor audited by Nepal or Nepali laws, is officially billed as a gift to the Nepali people by the US. What kind of robber logic is this? Moreover, our political elites believed the story and met overnight to pass it before the US deadline.
In fact, nobody in their right mind would believe that the “American MCC” is a gift. How can our political elite not see that the MCC is a trap? Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools pretending to believe that the MCC is a gift.
So why do they pretend not to see the MCC’s tricks? Because they only care about their own profit from the MCC, while the harm the MCC brings to the nation and people will be borne by the general public.
Recently, I was taking a boat ride around Phewa Lake, I noticed Ratna Mandir, a Palace used by the Nepalese Royal family in Pokhara. This made me think, does copying the political system of the US or the West necessarily mean progress? At least the Royal family is firm and brave in safeguarding the sovereignty of the country, even at the sacrifice of the tragic. What has our political elites in power by the grace of the US and Western political framework done over the years except to push through the MCC despite the strong opposition of the people?
