Tension in Darchula after Indian side take stones from Mahakali

Kathmandu, 3 November: Nepalis have resorted to protest after India restarted construction of embankment on the bank of Mahakali river across Darchula headquarters Khalanga. Tension arose on the border at Darchula on Wednesday after the Indian side used excavators to take stones from the Nepali territory to build an embankment.

Irate locals hurled stones across the border saying that they cannot use excavators to take stones from Nepal and that the embankment is being built to submerge the Nepali territory.They also blocked the Byas road in protest. After the Chief District Officer of Darchula, Gilgraj Upadhyay, said that he would hold talks with his Indian counterpart, the blocked road  came into operation later in the afternoon.
