Kathmandu, 27 October: As the fans of football eagerly look forward to watching the global tournament known as FIFA World Cup Football-2022 at the stadia in Qatar in person or at the television screens that is scheduled to kick off on November 20, the Qatari Embassy in Kathmandu recently organized a program to mark the start of the countdown of world’s mega sporting event.
The porgramme was graced by former Crown princess Himani Shah, Mayor of the Kathmandu Metropolis Balen Shah, heads of Kathmandu-based diplomatic missions, sportsmen of Nepal, high ranking officials of the government of Nepal and senior journalists including sports journalists.
On the occasion, Ambassador of Qatar to Nepal Yusuf Al Hail, Deputy Head of Mission Khalid Ibrahim, Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Nepal Saad Abu Haimed, Ambassador of United Arab Emirates Saeed Hamdan Al Naqvi, Ambassador of the Republic of Egypt Nona Ahmed, Foreign Secretary Bharat Raj Poudyal awarded footballs to the lucky draw winners.
According to Ambassador Hail, Qatar has built eight state-of-the-art stadia to play 64 matches in the World Cup, which will last from November 20 to December 18. He also thanked Nepalis who contributed in building them.
