Suspended Chief Justice Cholendra SJB Rana has been put on the condition of house arrest after he prepared to rejoin his office.
After the term of the House ended on September 18 he was to resume his job as Chief Justice, but the government did not allow him to come out of his residence.
He said that the government prevented him from coming out of his residence by padlocking the main gate of his residence and deploying a large number of police personnel outside his residence in Baluwatar. Rana, who was preparing to go to the Supreme Court, said that the government had locked his residence from outside and deployed a police unit.
With the news that suspended Chief Justice Rana had sent a notice to the Supreme Court that he was returning to regular work without the completion of the impeachment proceedings against him, a large number of security personnel were deployed to prevent him from entering the Supreme Court.
An impeachment motion was filed against Rana on February 13 and he was suspended immediately.
What the government did to prevent CJ Rana from rejoining his office drew criticism from the public. The act was sheer violence against the Constitution as a Chief Justice was put on the condition of house arrest.
NC’s anti-establishment camp demands 40 per cent share with a warning to boycott the election

The rival faction in the ruling Nepali Congress has exerted pressure on party president Sher Bahadur Deuba demanding a 40 per cent share in the seats of the House of Representatives and Provincial Assemblies. The faction has also warned that they will not participate in the election process if they are not given the said seats.
It is because of the warning and fearing non-cooperation from the rival group, Deuba has included the name of his wife Arzoo Rana in the closed list of the candidates under the Proportional Representation (PR) system of election. She was preparing to contest a direct election from Kailali-5, but when leader Puskar Ojha made preparation to challenge her, Deuba kept her on the list of PR candidates.
And if Deuba did not give the rival faction 40 per cent seats and if the rival faction boycott the poll, many of the NC leaders will suffer defeat because the Koirala camp has more popular votes in the masses than the establishment faction led by Deuba.
