14 years of foreign employment: 10,900 deaths

Kathmandu, 19 August: Due to the lack of job opportunity in the country and political instability, hundreds of Nepali youths are compelled to go abroad in search of good job every day. Most of the Nepalis have go abroad with the dream of making their own and families’ life  better.

Foreign employment has improved the living standard of  some people while it has ruined the life of some others. And the most tragic, some people end their lives in foreign lands before their beautiful dreams are fulfilled, and yet some others have to wait for years to receive the body of the deceased.

The remittances sent by Nepalis who went in search of employment accounted for 25 percent of the Gross Domestic Product in the last fiscal year, the highest in the past 14 years and sadly 10,900 precious lives were lost in the same time period, according to the Department of Foreign Employment.
