IBN approves MoU for West Seti, Indian company to develop the project

Kathmandu, 9 August: The 52nd meeting of the Investment Board Nepal (IBN)on Monday approved the MoU for the survey permission of the West Seti project. The meeting approved the MoU with developer Indian company NHPC Limited to study for the development of 750 MW West Seti and 450 MW Seti River-6 (SR-6) combined hydropower projects. A Memorandum of Understanding has been approved with NHPC to conduct a survey and prepare a study report within 2 years.

The meeting instructed the office of the investment board to proceed with the necessary preparations regarding the investment approval and project development agreement of the Lower Arun hydropower project with a production capacity of 679 megawatts. The Indian company Sutlej Jalvidyut Nigam has already submitted the DPR for this project which has been licensed.

The meeting also decided to issue a survey permit to Himtal Hydropower Company Limited for the study of Upper Masyangdi-2 hydropower project with a production capacity of 327 MW, as per the press statement issued by the IBN.
