PM’s China visit

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is paying an official week-long visit to China shortly at the invitation of his Chines counterpart, Premier Li Peng.

Since the visit is basically a goodwill one, it will center on further deepening the age-old ties between the two neighbors and is in keeping with the tradition of exchanging high level visits between the two countries from time to time.

Coming as it does not long after the Prime Minister’s official visit to India in February, the Deuba mission to China underlines the high priority that Nepal attaches to a balanced relationship with both her immediate neighbors. Such, incidentally, is a fact of Nepal’s foreign policy, irrespective of whatever government may be in charge in Kathmandu at any given time.
