Sugar becomes sour

BABBLES

By Babbler

After India temporarily stopped the export of sugar, the sugar price in Nepal has inclined by 20 rupees per kg. The price of the sugarcane has not increased, moreover, many sugarcane farmers have not received the payment against the supply of the sugarcane to the sugar factories for years.

The government is unable to help the sugarcane farmers for receiving their years old dues from different factories. The factory owners are seen as stronger than the government authorities. They, instead of paying dues to the farmers, have invested the money in different profit-making businesses. Some of them have even constructed luxury five-star hotels in Kathmandu.

Those fraud businessmen who own the sugar factories have increased the sugar price but the government has remained silent. Not odd, this is loot-tantra!

Where is fertilizer?

Again, farmers are facing an acute shortage of fertilizer during the rice farming season. This is not a new problem faced by farmers as, since the introduction of loot-tantra in the country, it has become a permanent problem.

In the country when the finance minister is involved in policy corruption by manipulating customs duty and other ministers and party leaders are following the same, who to take care of the plight of the farmers!

None of the political leaders is dedicated to nation-building and serving people. This is yet another example of loot-tantra.

Impunity

Annapurna Post daily reported in detail about how the finance minister changed the customs duty benefiting a group of businessmen in the budget presented by him. If the report is true, it is an act against the nation. The minister should be punished.

If the finance minister was not involved in such an act, the daily newspaper should be punished for publishing a fake report. An independent investigation has to be done to find the fact. But, it seems, nobody is going to be punished as the thrust of loot-tantra is impunity!

QUOTES OF THE WEEK

  • The “autocratic” Panchayat had identified Yadunath Khanal, Dr. Hark Gurung, Dr. Bhek Bahadur Thapa and recognized them as capable intellectuals, who devoted themselves to the service of the country with an unwavering commitment to the nation.

In a looktantra, the parties have made the nation the employment center for their followers and brokers

 Surya Raj Acharya

  • Panchayat was the organic system of Nepal. We were involved in agitation against that system without knowing the fact. Congress and Communists are the foreign-sponsored parties, that we have realized today.

Roshan Sibakoti

  • My father was imprisoned for almost 50 days for being involved in the anti-panchayat movement.

Today, he regrets his past deeds. Panchayat was overthrown by raising the parties in the direct presence of foreign leaders.

Aakash Koirala

  • The Panchayat was not autocratic in comparison with the current system of governance. Panchayat was more systematic and based on rule of law.

Sudarshan Dhital

  • I was fortunate enough to visit Khaptad Dham. About 11 hours of walking, riding a horse, even crippling somewhere. Amazing joy was received. How do travelers get around by walking all day? How did Baba Khaptad sit here alone and do penance? Etc. made me very excited, respectful and serious.

Chintamani Yogi

  • There is a difference between the politics of Nepal and other countries. The politics of the entire world is dirty but in Nepal, politics is also done on dirty issues.

Shiva Prakash

  • It is said that if any country should be destroyed, first of all, the university should be closed. The main university of our country, Tribhuvan University, has been closed for 139 days.

Bharat Pokharel

  • Unfortunately, the government is unaware of the closure of the University for such a long time!

The student organizations, faculty and staff unions and political parties are the cause of the destruction of the university.

Lokesh Dhakal

  • Due to federalism, the country has become dependent on the MCC Compact. Corruption and tyranny are rampant. Now this glorious constitution of 2047 must be revived by abolishing imported federalism and only then will the country return to its rightful place.

Maharudra Prasad Pokharel

  • Let the government exempt income tax and VAT for the first five years to promote local software startups in Nepal. Thousands of startups will open. IT revolution will take place in the country. If you want to surpass foreign countries, you have to think ten steps ahead of them.

Rudra Pandey

  • How many of us know the treacherous deeds of the Congress and Communists?

How they destroyed an IT company producing more than 800 skilled manpower and investments made in Nepal in 2057 BS, is an example?

Deepak Gajurel

  • The transformation of the country is not possible as long as the ‘Luddites’ who oppose the new technology, the ‘dull bureaucrats’ who examine the hairs of the law and the status quoists become leaders. Creative destruction is needed now in all areas.
