Kathmandu, 30 April: The Election Commission today distributed election symbols to all the independent candidates contesting local level elections.
Noted independent candidate for the mayor post in the Kathmandu Metropolis, Balen Shah has got “stick” as the election symbol.
He is one of the popular candidates challenging NC’s candidate Sirjana Singh and UML candidate Keshab Sthapit.
Independent mayoral candidate in Bharatpur, Chitwan, Jagannath Poudel has got “pineapple” as the election symbol. Poudel, a senior leader in the NC has challenged five-party alliance candidate Renu Dahal. NC has suspended Poudel on the charge of violation of the party discipline.
In Bharatpur, the alliance candidate is Dahal, whereas, UML’s candidate is Bijaya Subedi.
Poudel had given candidature to the post of mayor challenging the party leadership’s directorship. Poudel said, he is contesting the election to save the Nepali Congress Party.
Accordingly, Ganes Poudel, NC leader in Kaski, Pokhara and member of the “Defying Central Order Campaign”, has got “stick” as the election symbol.
Poudel is contesting the post of mayor’s post in Pokhara Metropolis Corporation.
Dhanraj Acharya is the candidate of the five-party alliance and Krishna Thapa is the candidate from the UML.
Umesh Yadav of the Janata Samajwadi Party is the independent mayoral candidate for Biratnagar Metropolis Corporation and has got a “lantern” (lamp) as an election symbol.
Nagesh Koirala is the candidate of the five-party alliance and Sagar Thapa is the candidate from UML for the post of mayor.
Independent candidate for the post of mayor in Dhangadi Sub-Metropolis, Gopal Hamal has got “mango” as an election symbol.
Nripabahadur Bad is the alliance candidate and Ranbahadur Chand is the UML candidate.
