It would be wise if the five political parties in the government merge into one party, which would lower the cost of running the parties! As the political parties have undermined their fundamental principles, there has been seen no difference among the political parties.
Politics is based on principle, agenda and the vision for nation-building. Contradicting, Nepali politics is based on capturing power and running the country by forming a syndicate. The present move of the five parties in the alliance is to enjoy power through a syndicate of five parties by sidelining another cunning political player K.P. Sharma Oli.
Nepali Congress president Sher Bahadur Deuba, Maoist Center chairman Pushpakamal Dahal, Unified Socialist chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal, among others, are continuously lauding for an alliance among five parties ensuring victory in the local, provincial and federal elections. The said five parties have been constituted by adopting different political principles. Moreover, the Nepali Congress believes in democracy, whereas, the communist parties believe in communism. There is a vast difference between democratic and communist ideologies. However, by sidelining basic political principles, the leaders of the five parties have decided to develop an alliance just to ensure the victory of the leaders who have ruled the country turn by turn and again they want to rule the country turn by turn. We have already experienced their rule, which is based on corruption, loot, nepotism, favouritism, sycophancy, kleptocracy and bad governance. They all are self-centred and they have no vision for the development of the nation except managing themselves and their family members.
All the political parties have become unpopular among the voters, therefore, they needed to develop an unnatural alliance just for enjoying power, it is clear.
Look at the present situation! The country’s economy is on the verge of collapse. Such a scenario has been created due to the loot of the government coffer. In the name of economic liberalization and globalization, the government sold out most of the government-owned factories and the remaining government undertakings became the recruitment centre of the political leaders in the government, from which, all the profit running government corporations have been ruined. As result, Nepal became an import-based country as many import-substituting industries have already been shut down. Private sector businessmen look upon profit. The government and the political parties always tried to squeeze and trouble local industrialists. They found much profit on trade business based on imports rather than running industries facing troubles from different government and political parties. Today, despite the Nepal Rastra Bank’s restrictions on imports, it has inclined enormously. Local agriculture farmers are unable to get market for their agro-products, whereas, imported food products have dominated the market. The government has not imposed any import restrictions on products that are available within the country. Without the protection of the local industries, they cannot be flourished. Even in Japan or India like countries, local industries have been protected by the government in different ways. The Americans had marketed and promoted Michael Jackson. The US government is still enjoying royalty received from Jackson’s songs.
All the nations who are advocating for globalization and economic liberalization are protecting their industries through different means. Therefore, liberalization like the word is just for the underdeveloped countries. The basic idea is to keep those underdeveloped countries always poor, exploit these countries’ natural resources and export finished products to these countries. The war or conflict principles are also based on ruining the countries trying to develop economically. Presently, when China has emerged as the world’s second-largest economy, the Americans are trying their best to bring down China. Ethiopia was a conflict-ridden nation for decades. Lately, Ethiopian leadership constructed big hydropower projects making the nation self-sufficient in power and promoting tourism by boosting its airlines operation, the developed countries have again introduced domestic conflict there. Afghanistan is a naturally rich country. Unfortunately, the country always became the playground of foreign forces. Nepal is inviting different crises as the political leaders are serving foreign interests. India needs water. Therefore, it always disturbs the construction of big multiple hydropower projects such as Budhi Gandaki, West Seti, Upper Karnali. In every change of the political leadership in Nepal, India occupies one after another big hydropower projects. For the above three decades of signing the Mahakali Treaty, India has not even completed the DPR of the project. The Indian priority is the water for drinking and irrigation purposes.
Our leaderships are always dancing to the foreigners’ tune and they, to please their foreign bosses, are working in their interests. Therefore, we don’t see any sign of development of the nation.
The leaders are not abided by the principle or ethics or morale, except enjoy power turn by turn. This is why the leaders are insisting on the alliance. It is totally against the democratic values and norms, so far it is organized loot by the foreign puppets!
