Hats off Prakash Saput!

Editorial

“Pir” music video is a story of a couple who fought the “people’s war” for a change in society but got nothing except bullets in their body and spending a poor livelihood even unable to feed their only daughter from the income they earn. The wife was thus compelled to go for a foreign job seeking a better future for their daughter but disappeared in the foreign country. In fact, she was abducted in a foreign land and appealing for her rescue. Her husband in the country knocked on the door of his former colleagues fought the war together and now enjoying power but the former didn’t get help to rescue his wife from the foreign land.

The story takes another twist when the helpless husband wants to forget all the sufferings and troubles for the time being, he meets another female colleague fighting the war together now spending a life of a sex worker.

This is a representative story of those innocent and honest youths who joined the Maoist guerilla war with the dream of changing society but got nothing. In the meantime, the story explains the luxurious lifestyle of a selected group of leaders who had launched the bloody conflict.

Noted singer Prakash Saput’s presentation “Pir” has successfully narrated the entire history of the ten-year-long bloody “people’s war” just in 16 minutes-long music video. The video had already been viewed by above 60 lakh people. Perhaps, the video is at the No 1 position since it has been uploaded on Youtube. “Pir” a musical video, not only describes the false promises given by the revolutionary leaders for a change in society but also explains the fate of the Maoist guerrillas who fought the war for a political revolution but got nothing except bullets in their bodies and compelled to do the dirty job due to the lack of opportunity. On the other hand, some of their cunning, claver and opportunist colleagues who fought the war together are enjoying luxurious lifestyles and riding in luxurious vehicles. They even deny recognizing their war-time colleagues and responding to the victims’ problems.

The impressive dialogue between the husband and wife, former guerrillas attracts the viewers:

-“What did you receive from the battle?”

-“Republicanism!”

-“Your republicanism is not even able to feed your daughter!”

Obviously, the music video has not only exposed the dark picture of the “people’s war” but also exposed the real intention of the cunning leaders, thus far, some of the Maoist sister organizations, unable to digest the reality, have warned Saput asking to remove the video immediately from the Youtube.

Since the Maoist sister organizations have been continuously threatening Saput, a large section of people have come in support of Saput and other artists in the video. They have commended Saput for his courageous work. We also commend Saput and other artists Surakchya Pant and Keshu Pun for their work and the real action they have performed. Hats off Prakash Saput and the team!

Meanwhile, we wish to cite the music video by Pashupati Sharma, “Lutnasake loot Kancha”. This music video had also fallen into controversy once it was released. The rulers had objected on the release of the video which has described rampant loot and corruption in the country. We also wish to commend Sharma for his work.
