Kathmandu, 28 October: The Nepal Army has constructed a helipad in Jajarkot, which is located between the three main highways, where helicopters can land at night also.
Shyam Sharan Gotame, Battalion commander of the Chandannath Battalion, said that the Battalion has constructed with a labour donation and support of nine hundred thousand rupees. He said that the financial support was provided by the Bheri Municipality.
The people of Jajarkot, who have been facing problems from floods and landslides and other natural calamities, have been using the airport at Chaurjahari in Rukum for rescue and management operations.
With the construction of the helipad, rescue and relief work from within the district can now be done easily even at night. Earlier, due to the lack of a helipad, the only option for the people there was to use the Chaurjahari airport in Rukum West.
The helipad has been constructed within the battalion premises as the army will be in charge of the security and maintenance of the helipad.
The helipad was inaugurated by Shri No. 4 Brigade commander Lt Gen. Harendra Pathak, RSS has reported.
