100 thousand doses of Pfizer vaccine arriving on Monday

Kathmandu, 23 October: The Pfizer vaccine against Covid-19 produced by the American company Pfizer-Biotech is scheduled to arrive in Nepal on Monday.

According to Sagar Dahal, chief of the vaccination division of the Health Service Department, one hundred thousand doses of Pfizer vaccine will arrive in Nepal on Monday under the Covax facility.

The Pfizer vaccine is being prepared to vaccinate from 14 November, according to Bivek Kumar Lal, chief, Family Welfare Division in the Health Ministry.

The government is targeting adolescents, especially those over 12 years of age for vaccination. The government has given priority to those long-term patients such as cancer, heart, diabetes, asthma and HIV in any age group above 12 years of age as the number of vaccines arriving on Monday is low. Dahal said that such people are given first priority as the immunity of long-term patients is low.
