
Kathmandu, 10 September: The Vice President of Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) of Compact Operations, Fatema Z. Sumar, who is in town to push forward the controversial MCC project, separately called on CPN (UML) Chairman Khadga Oli, Chairperson of CPN (Unified Socialist) Madhav Kumar Nepal, former Prime Minister Babu Ram Bhattarai. During the meeting, different aspects of MCC compacts were discussed. Sumar urged Oli to support in advancing the MCC since the US government was for forwarding the processes to approve the MCC from the parliament.
In response, Oli told her that the UML will not make its position until the government makes its viewpoint clear on MCC since the UML was in opposition.
Likewise, Nepal urged the US officials to make clear about the negative comments raised regarding MCC among Nepalis. He sort further clarification with regard to the concerns as issues have been raised about MCC citing it was not in the national interests. He said that his party would take appropriate decision by keeping the issue of national interest in the centre.
