Kathmandu, 2 September: The CPN UML has filed a writ petition against Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota, the Election Commission (EC), and Lumbini Province Speaker Purna Bahadur Gharti. On behalf of UML Chairperson Khadga Oli, Sumitra Pande filed the separate writ petitions at Supreme Court on Wednesday.
The hearing on the writ is scheduled for Friday. The UML demanded action against Speaker, arguing that he did not implement the action the party took against 14 lawmakers. It sought the mandamus order. The UML led by KP Sharma Oli had expelled 14 lawmakers including leader Madhav Kumar Nepal on August 9.
