Govt’s common minimum programmes likely today

Kathmandu, 3 August: On Monday a discussion on the government’s common minimum program was held among the parties in the ruling coalition. A meeting of the senior leaders almost finalized the policy and programs of the coalition government prepared by the task force led by Nepali Congress(NC) leader Purna Bahadur Khadka. The remaining issues will be finalized by holding further discussion today. Senior leaders of Nepali Congress, the CPN (Maoist Center) and the Janata Samajwadi Party are likely to make the common minimum program public today while an agreement has also been reached to expand the cabinet, according to reports.

In the common minimum programme, the task force has addressed the priorities of the coalition government, policies and programs, implementation of federalism among other issues. In today’s meeting, the senior leaders also agreed to work in the interest of the country and people, and to make the functioning of the government more effective.
