Kathmandu, 1 August: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and Maoist Center chairman Pushpakamal Dahal Prachanda are consulting for expanding cabinet.
They are waiting for incorporating the Madhav Nepal faction in the cabinet. They have thus decided to wait for the Nepal faction until Monday and expand the cabinet.
As K.P. Sharma Oli faction in the UML has initiated efforts for party unity, the Nepal faction has not been able to take a concrete decision on whether to remain in the UML or split the party.
Madhav Nepal personally is willing to split the party and become the chairman of a splinter party. However, a section of the party workers in the Nepal camp is trying to stop a split of the party. Second-generation leaders in both camps are trying their best for keeping the party united. Nepal is performing a “wait and see” strategy, due to which, expansion of the cabinet has been delayed.
