Following the recent Supreme Court ruling, K.P. Sharma Oli has quit Baluatar and Sher Bahadur Deuba has occupied the venue for the fifth time.
Now, Deuba has become the strongest Prime Minister of Nepal, who has the mandate to rule the nation for one and a half years, the remaining term of the House.
There is no drastic difference between Oli and Deuba. Oli was able to make laugh the audience from his jokes, however, the audience would miss such jokes but they also feel difficulty in understanding what Deuba is speaking!
Understandably, Pushpakamal Dahal Prachanda, Madhav Nepal, Upendra Yadav chose Deuba as the commander of their front as they felt that Deuba is very comfortable to use. Now, this group is going to constitute a networking body to instruct and guide the government. This is what we say opening fire by keeping the gun on Deuba’s shoulder.
Oli was capable to distribute dreams but Deuba is not even able to identify which speech he is delivering on which occasion! He holds the capability of entertaining audiences by reading the irrelevant text of the speech at formal programmes.
Oli’s spouse Radhika Shakya was a different type of lady. She was not seen in the political arena and didn’t fall into any controversy, contrarily, Deuba’s spouse Arju is smarter than Deuba.
Along with the dawn of Deuba, the next episode of the banana republic has started, however, the main actors – Prachanda and Nepal — are in the same role.
The recent SC ruling has further added anomalies by ending the politics of ideology, principle, belief, and conviction. The Madhav Nepal faction in the UML was allowed to cross the floor against the UML party’s decision to vote against Deuba.
With the hope of becoming the minister or being rewarded with some gifts, MPs from UML and JSP have crossed the floor, whereas, small parties RPP and Nepal Majdoor Kishan Party have boycotted the vote held on Sunday. Changing the camp has become a normal practice. Moreover, such developments have indicated the failure of a multiparty system and given the flavour of a partyless system.
Already, the political parties had become the victim of anarchism of the leadership within the party. The tussle between Oli and Madhav Nepal camp in UML and Upendra Yadav and Mahantha Thakur camp in JSP are the example of violating the democratic practice and norms of the multiparty system. The Court has further encouraged intra-party anarchism.
A political system is introduced for strengthening national sovereignty, independence, and prosperity of the nation and the people. Unfortunately, the Nepali scenario is different. The existing political system has encouraged the loot-tantra by political leaders. The dispute and power tussle at the federal level of the system has already spread in provincial governments. Instead of contributing to nation-building, the leaders are fighting for power and toppling down each other’s government.
Nepal has been failed on all fronts. The country’s economic scenario is very bleak. The recently published Nepal Rastra Bank’s report states that within the two years, again the balance of payment of the country has gone negative. A negative balance of payment is a symptom that leads the economy towards its failure.
The gap in the trade deficit is widening further as we are importing a lot and exporting very little. If imports are for infrastructural development, the present deficit can be recovered in the long term but if we are importing luxury products and our imports have discouraged local products, the case can be serious.
The debt burden on every individual has crossed above fifty thousand along with an alarming increase in the past three years.
We agree, the Covid-19 has hit the economy, moreover, we have introduced an expensive constitution. The functioning of the constitution is too costly and beyond the country’s revenue capacity. The country needs foreign debt to meet the expenses of the federal organs. Without removing those unnecessary organs and without reducing the present habit of heavy expenditure, we cannot imagine the economic prosperity of the nation, instead, we will be taking more and more foreign loans just to feed our political employees.
We see the political leaders are enjoying a luxurious lifestyle, whereas, the larger number of the population are being ruled by those political classes and they are compelled to pay heavy tax in every step they walk just to feed those political leaders.
The conclusion is that this loot-tantra will not strengthen the nation but it will destroy the nation on all fronts.
