Morning shows the day!

Babbles

By Babbler

The next day after Sher Bahadur Deuba was appointed the Prime Minister, Nepali Congress vice-chairman Bijaya Gachhadar, who was disappeared from the court, was surprisingly appeared at the court. Gachhadar is facing a court case on the charge of being involved in billions of rupees worth the Baluatar land scandal. Later, the court released him on bail worth just one million rupees. Media persons were surprised to know the bail amount which was very low than the claimed amount!

Meanwhile, suspended NC MP Aftab Alam’s men were exchanging joy after Deuba became the PM. They were happy because Deuba has given words to Alam’s men that he would release Alam, who is facing jail term on the charge of burning the body of some alive persons into the brick kiln and killing them in a village in Rautaht.

More than the general public, criminals have become happy from Deuba’s arrival as the PM.

Prachanda’s security important than the border security

The previous government had reduced the number of security personnel deployed for the security of ex VIPs. Maoist Center chairman and former PM Pushpakamal Dahal’s security was also reduced to 18 personnel. Immediately after Deuba assumed office, by violating the government decision, 55 security personnel under the command of a DSP has been assigned for the security of Prachanda.

The Armed Police Force personnel are deployed for the border security and the number is very less. Therefore, the government had decided to cut down the number of security personnel for the VIPs with the plan of deploying them in the border security post.

It seems, for Deuba, Prachanda’s security is important than Nepal’s territorial security!

Political whim

In this loktantra or say loot-tantra, the country is running through the personal whim of the political leaders in power.

After Deuba became the PM, he is intended to alter all the political decisions done by outgoing PM K.P. Sharma Oli after the dissolution of the House.

All the political appointments are going to be scrapped. Besides, the government has decided to recall nine ambassadors assigned politically by K.P. Sharma Oli led government.

We had criticized the government for appointing those nearer and dearer to such sensitive posts. The appointments were made without meeting the government criteria. But, the new government has committed another mistake by recalling them immediately after their assignments.

What the host country feel about Nepal’s foreign policy!

In fact, there is no foreign policy and also there is no policy of the government in running the country.

Oddly, PM Deuba’s mother-in-law Pratibha Rana is the ambassador to Japan. She has already completed her tenure. Oli didn’t touch her because she was the mother-in-law of the leader of the opposition party. Surely, there is a give and take between the opposition party leader and the sitting PM.

Although the government has decided to dismiss the Oli appointed ambassadors, this may not apply to Rana, mother-in-law of Deuba!

PM’s residence or party palace?

Perhaps, we are the first newspaper since the then prime minister Girija Prasad Koirala started to call the party meeting in Baluatar, PM’s official residence.

KP Oli run the party from Baluatar. Not only that he also hosted the meeting of the Oli community in Baluatar. He was thus criticized by the NC leaders.

Now, there is the NC president as the PM and he has also started to call the party meeting at Baluatar.

Moreover, there is a code of conduct for not meeting diplomats without the approval and presence of foreign ministry officials. But who cares, our PM meets the diplomats in his bedroom. So funny!

Gaming and betting

Our money is flying abroad through the formal and informal channels. Recently, the Euro Cup football was concluded. We are informed that many Nepalis were betting on the games. Such betting was organised by networking in foreign countries. Their agents were active in Nepal.

A CIAA chief was saying that if opened the file of corruption and investigating, either it is floating towards Budhanilkantha, or it is crossing Balkot, or it is going to the Paris summit. And there is pressure from above to stop the investigation. The top leaders of the country are involved in corruption. What can we expect from this for good governance and prosperity?

It is a wrong practice to issue a “white paper” after the new finance minister assuming office as if the system has changed.

Investors run the risk of being swayed by the government’s acknowledgement of the weaknesses of the economy when it comes to showing the weaknesses of the past.

Earlier, they had issued a white paper saying that there was no investment climate!

The reality is that Nepal’s political parties are the main obstacle to Nepal’s political stability and prosperity.

Keshab Prasad Bhattarai

I am not a supporter of Oli, but I do not like the fact that the Supreme Court has overstepped its bounds and appointed Deuba as the Prime Minister. The prime minister had to be appointed by parliament. The parliament that proposed Deuba could have done this easily.
