Cases of COVID-19 has been on the constant rise for the past few days. The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) on Tuesday confirmed 3108new COVID-19 cases, bringing the nationwide tally to 670,953. Of the new cases,906 were detected from the antigen.
On Monday, the number of total cases climbed to 2445 from Sunday’s 1806. Likewise, the daily cases also increased in the Kathmandu valley. On Tuesday, 719 new cases were reported in the Valley while on Monday the number was only 474.
Of the total 13,135 tests conducted on Tuesday, 8,836 were Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) while 4,299 antigen tests. The positivity rate is 19.2 per cent, informed the MoHP.
The country also reported 25 deaths related to the disease on Tuesday.
The active COVID-19 caseload across the nation increased to 26,419 on Tuesday. That figure was 25,857 on Monday.
Of the active cases, 2,585 patients are admitted to various health facilities while the remaining 23,834 are in home isolation.
As per the latest update, 592 COVID-19 patients are admitted to the Intensive Care Units (ICUs) and 172 are under treatment with ventilator support across the nation.
Districts including Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Chitwan, Nawalparasi E, Surkhet, Kailali and Rupandehi have more than 500 active cases of COVID-19.
Meanwhile, 1,595 COVID-19 patients recovered from the infection on Tuesday. Nepal has now recorded 634,927 cases of recovery, and the recovery rate now stands at 94.6 per cent.
Meanwhile, as per the update on the ongoing vaccination drive, 3,150,956 people were vaccinated with the first dose and 1,158,130of them with both doses as of Tuesday.
