Kathmandu, 16 July: The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation has informed that the government has brought back two statues and a carved wooden block that were smuggled to the USA.
The government of Nepal was successful to get back the invaluable antiquities through coordinated efforts of the governments of the USA and Nepal. Those treasures of cultural and historical significance were smuggled to New York through international racket of smugglers and were put on sale via exhibition. According to the Ministry, Nepal has brought back 63 statues stolen/lost statues so far.
