Special Court releases Gachchhadar on bail

Kathmandu, 15 July: The Vice President of Nepali Congress (NC) Bijaya Kumar Gachchhadar, who had been facing a corruption charge on Lalita Niwas land grab scam, has been released on a bail amount of Rs 1 million.

As per the order of a division of Special Court (SC) Chair Premraj Karki, judges Abdul Ajij Musalman and Nitya Nand Pandey on Wednesday, Gachchhadar posted the bail amount and an ordered for his release was issued, according to court spokesperson Pushpa Raj Pandey

The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) had filed a case against 175 people, including Gachhadar, at the special court for their involvement in facilitating the transfer of 113 ropanis of public land to individuals.
