Journalist Som Suseli, who is actively involved in the journalism profession for the last three decades, has been awarded this year’s Jasuda Khaki Pradhan Memorial Award.
The award is being distributed by the Bhanu Pratibha Samrakchan Tatha Sahitya Sambardhan Samiti, Ilam every year to the journalists and literary figures.
The award has been bestowed upon Suseli on July 13, marking the birth anniversary of Aadikavi Bhanubhakta Acharya, according to Bimal Baidhya, president of the Committee.
Suseli started his career in journalism in 1991 from Saptahik Bichar, a vernacular weekly newspaper published in Jhapa. He is currently working as a station manager in the Nepal Vani FM and is the Editor-in-Chief editor of Ilam Express daily.
The Award has been established in memory of late journalist and poet Jasuda Pradhan. Late Pradhan was the founding managing editor of the Samrachana vernacular Weekly and People’s Review weekly. She hailed from Ilam. Late Jasuda was actively associated in the field of journalism for more than three decades before she took her last breath. She passed away in July 2010.
