Where are the 35 kgs of smuggled gold? What is happening on the wide-body and narrow-body aircraft purchase scams? What is happening on the Baluatar land scam? These are some questions that the general public is talking about. If we talk about the corruption practice which has been flourished along with the introduction of the multi-party democracy and now the lok-tantra, popularly known as loot-tantra, the list of those political scams will be very long.
What are the anti-corruption organs including the Commission for Investigation on Abuse of Authority doing? Indeed, those organs are acting under the instruction of the government and there is a strong influence of the major political parties as the officials there are being appointed based on political belief and aafno manche. The main job of such organs is to catch small fish and to keep pending the cases against the big fishes. If the CIAA will initiate an independent investigation all the chiefs and major leaders of the political parties will be interrogated and suspended. If the CIAA will dare to initiate an independent investigation, there will remain very few political leaders outside, i.e. almost all the leaders will be jailed.
Corruption has become a big hurdle for economic prosperity. Outgoing prime minister K.P. Sharma tried to win the hearts of people saying that he doesn’t need to be involved in corruption as he has no kids. Unfortunately, he was unable to remain aloof from the corruption practice that taking place from Baluatar, his official residence as he was encircled by those mafias who were in fact running the government.
In many ways, the present system has been failed. One of them is bad governance and rampant corruption.
