Kathmandu, 13 July: The senior leader of the CPN (UML) Madhav Kumar Nepal has exited form the five-party alliance of the opposition citing changed political situation. During a meeting of the opposition alliance on Monday evening leader Nepal expressed his solidarity in the struggles for the defense of constitution and democracy.
The leaders of opposition had gathered to devise strategy to move forward and forming the government following the verdict of the Supreme Court regarding the restoration of the House of Representatives and appointment of Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba to the post of Prime Minister within two days, Nepal clarified his position as the two factions in the UML have already reached a 10-point agreement to save the party from split.
With Nepal and his faction members’ exit from the alliance it is unpredictable whether Deuba will be able to secure majority votes in parliament is still uncertain. Deuba will have to secure the vote of confidence in parliament within 30 days after his appointment as the new prime minister.
