Kathmandu, 12 July: Now onward, after Nepal started to receive instalment of Nepal procured 4 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine from China, in the meantime, the USA is providing 1.5 million doses of vaccine on the grant, which is also arriving soon, the vaccination derive will be accelerated as there is storage problem in Nepal.
According to Badri Bahadur Khadka, chief, Public Health Office in Kathmandu, as there can be a problem with the storage of the vaccine, the government is planning to accelerate the vaccination drive.
He informed that there will be no scarcity of vaccines from now onwards.
Until now, 242 thousand people in Kathmandu have received the second dose of the Chinese vaccine, whereas 231 thousand people have received the first dose of the same vaccine.
Likewise, 160 thousand people in the Kathmandu district have received the first dose of the Indian vaccine, whereas, 89894 people have received the second dose and 83000 people are waiting for the second dose of the Indian vaccine.
As India stopped Nepal procured one million doses of vaccine, 83000 people in Kathmandu are waiting for the second dose of vaccine in Kathmandu district alone. Altogether, 1.5 million elderly citizens are waiting for the second dose of vaccine nationwide.
According to Khadka, those who are waiting for the second dose of the Indian vaccine can take the vaccine within six months of the first dose they have received.
