Kathmandu, 8 July: Nepal Telecom Authority (NTA) has said that International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) should not be registered in mobile phones purchased in Nepal. Issuing a notice on NTA has stated that it was not necessary to re-register the IMEI number of the mobile set imported and purchased in Nepal as per the rules in terms of business.
NTA is implementing mobile device management system (MDMS) from July 16 in order to make it systematic by discouraging illegal import, sale, distribution and use of mobile sets.
