The UML has decided to conduct a debate on federalism and secularism. It is good. Let’s debate on these issues which were imposed by the foreigners and we saw many anomalies while practicing the present system. Moreover, we are going to end our century-old civilization and also end the existence of the nation as a sovereign and independent nation if we allow continuing this system.
Meanwhile, republicanism has also contributed to creating a mess in the country. Why not debate on the pros and cons of the institution of monarchy! Even Pushpakamal Dahal Prachanda was appreciating the King’s role compared to the present role of the President!
We believe, the best acceptable alternative to the present system is the 1990 constitution. Let’s return to that era from the present dark era!
Bidhyasundar Shakya and media
An interaction programme of senior editors was organised in the capital city. The editors present at the programme opined that the local bodies in different parts of the country are supporting local print media, except the Kathmandu Metropolis Corporation.
They remarked that mayor Bidhyasundar Shakya is very much a media unfriendly person as he doesn’t read newspapers.
However, the editors said that under the mayor’s instruction, the Corporation is providing financial support to the reporters associated with different broadsheet dailies. Likewise, some of the mayor’s close newspapers are receiving financial support regularly without publishing advertisements!
Meanwhile, he is seen bias against the artists too. Some artists had painted the wall of the overhead bridges in major streets but mayor Shakya mobilized the Metropolis Police under his command to erase the paintings. How nonsense!
Oli in daylight loot: NAC privatization scam
Caretaker Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli has exhibited his corrupt face by planning to hand over the ownership of Nepal Airlines to Yeti Holdings, Oli’s business partner company.
Nepali flag carrier Nepal Airlines Corporation owns the property worth 80 billion rupees but under Oli’s instruction, the NAC management has evaluated the total property belonging to the Corporation only to 50 billion rupees. Clearly, there is the manipulation of 30 billion rupees as commission if handed over the Airlines to the Yeti Holdings.
The Nepal Airlines Corporation, an old business institution of the government, is the glory of Nepal, a landlocked nation. Unfortunately, for personal gains, the Oli government has decided to dispose of this glorious institution at a very low price.
This is an example of how loot-tantra has been flourished in this “loktantra”!
